Council Tax - Empty Property Discount
Guidance Notes
This form enables customers to request empty property discount on their Council Tax bill.
If your property has been empty and unfurnished for less than six months you may qualify for an exemption from Council Tax. (The start date of the exemption is the date the property was last occupied and not when you purchased the property).
The discount for second homes (furnished properties that are not used as a main residence) is 10%.

If you qualify we will send you an adjusted bill. If you do not qualify, we will contact you to explain why.
Long-term empty properties (empty over six months) do not qualify for discount and are charged at the full Council Tax level.
