Housing - Application to keep a dog
Guidance Notes
Please complete this form if you want to apply for permission to keep a dog.
The Council's policy is to allow tenants living in a house or bungalow to keep up to two dogs.
You cannot keep a dog if you live in a bedsit, flat or maisonette.
Exceptions to this are:
> Guide dogs
> Where your GP or another professional has recommended that you keep one for your health or wellbeing
> Where you are a repeat victim of crime
> There are other special circumstances
Please note we do not give permission for tenants to keep dogs covered by the Dangerous Dog Act 1991 e.g. Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa.
